Power for Change

Page

While Dad and I are embarking on this hike for enjoyment, I am also hoping to raise awareness about Parkinson’s AND raise some money to help feed a vision that will improve my mum’s well being and the lives of many other people living with Parkinson’s disease.  Additionally, it will help support an organization that has already helped my family in so many ways.

I am calling it the Hike for Change because I am hoping that the money raised will be able to make some positive changes in the lives of Parkinson’s patients, including my mum.  Therefore, if you would like to donate, and keep in mind that ANYTHING helps, you can find me and give the money to me, or donate using this link here

AN IMPORTANT NOTE FOR DONATING ONLINE:

PLEASE, on the donation page in the “request for your donation box”, please specify that you would like your donation to go to either PARKINGO or THE PARKINSON’S PROGRAM AT HEADWAY.  YOU ARE WELCOME TO DESIGNATE SOME MONEY TO EACH PROGRAM IF YOU WISH.

From the bottom of my heart, and in hopes of finding a cure, thank you, thank you, thank you:

Yours is Hiking,

Kate

Well, Katie, ( and not forgetting Brian), I guess you showed us!! Thank you both for sticking with it in the face of some tremendous obstacles (read 2,000 lb. bull ), and your mother’s misgivings. I am bursting with pride for you, and am so grateful that you succeeded in finishing what you set out to do. Really looking forward to seeing you both.
And thank you also to those of you who have donated on line or otherwise.( – it is Katie’s intention to write to each of you and thank you herself, although if you have donated anonymously that will not be possible, but please continue to check Katie’s blog ). We really appreciate YOUR contributions towards helping PWP (People with Parkinson’s ) live a better life, participating in the exercise programmes that have been tremendously successful in controlling symptoms of PD, while we wait for the cure to be found – the sooner the better! As Katie’s description conveys ( and that is only the half of it ), it is an &%*$#(&$@#
    disease.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,Katie and Brian, for the amazing feat you accomplished, (sorry about mentioning feet Katie – I know that’s a sensitive subject right now ), and thank you all for tagging along on the journey.
Paddi (aka Mum; aka old goat my dera one’s affectionate name for me)

  2. What? I thought your moniker was more like “she who must be obeyed”…kidding. I too am so impressed with both Kate and Brian for tackling this adventure. A lot of memory building happened, and some family bonding, and some good times, and some bad times. I did donate, I think I did it anonymously (I can’t remember). Couldn’t possibly contribute what you all deserve for living with the disease and for taking on big challenges and mastering them. Thanks to you all!
